I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween! I know it's a little early, but I am off to New York City for the weekend. It will be a combination of business and pleasure, but I'm planning on hitting all my favorite shops (Tinsel Trading, Shabby Chic, ABC, etc...), so I should have lots to show you when I return. Plus, I hope to find some goodies for the shop!

I think we chose the prettiest day in the universe to go apple picking!
The orchards looked like something out of a fairytale.
We picked Pink Ladies (of course!).
Now I have a ton of apples and I'm not sure just what to make with all of them! Any recipe suggestions would be much appreciated!

Everywhere I go lately it seems that sequins and rhinestones are all the rage. From heels to dresses to accessories - everything seems to be embellished with pretty, sparkly things. So, when I was shopping at Target the other day and found a rather plain (but pretty) cardigan on sale ($16!), I knew exactly what I needed to do with it...
I broke out my stash of vintage glass rhinestones, planted myself in front of the TV, and got to work.
I didn't really plan the pattern in advance, but I was very inspired by the beaded and embellished sweaters from the 1950's.
This was a really fun and relaxing project. And, you don't need to be a serious seamstress to do the same thing. All you need is a needle and thread and a little creativity. I went with rhinestones this time around, but you could just as easily use sequins or beads in your design. And if you need some pretty vintage rhinestones like mine, you can find them in my shop. :-)

Lately, I am rather obsessed with my mini pastel marshmallows. So, I thought I'm incorporate them into some Rice Krispie Treats.
I made two kinds - one batch with regular white marshmallows and one with pink strawberry marshmallows. I just followed the basic recipe and then added two additional cups of mini-marshmallows to the mix.
Then, if that wasn't quite enough sugar, I sprinkled a few more on top!
These are super easy, so make a stack or two this weekend...
They would be great yummy treats or favors for a birthday party or shower - just wrap them up in some clear cellophane and tie with some ribbon or tulle. I know my girls are going to be pretty happy when they get home from school today and see these waiting for them. :-)

I am really loving the AMC show, Mad Men, lately. And, while the acting is excellent and the storylines compelling, I am mostly in it for the clothing and decor. :-) Those 1960's styles are so incredibly cool. Which brings me to these super fabulous floral cocktail picks...
These are vintage (circa 1960) and so fun.
I just love them - I mean, can't you just picture elegantly dressed men and women sipping martinis and enjoying hors d'oeuvres speared with these little beauties?
Since I don't get too many opportunities to drink Martinis these days, I am thinking I will use mine as cupcake toppers or for decorating some tea sandwiches for the girls' next tea party.
And, if you can't find some originals like these at a local tag sale, you can find some sweet reproductions here.
