I have always loved the expression, "bits and bobs". It just sounds so sweet. I believe it is a term primarily used in the UK to connote a collection of little odds and ends. While antiquing last week, I came across these...
Some little bits and bobs of vintage ribbon.
They are quite old and exquisitely faded. Probably the remnants of what were once grand vintage spools.
I love that someone bothered to pin each little bit.
I will likely use them in a future project, but for now I think I will just keep them like this...
A simple glass jar filled with bits and bobs.
Jessica
They're so pretty! I'd be hesitant to use them just because they're so pretty to look at!

Hi, just a short post to say recently discovered your blog. I was an avid crafter and general beauty lover until I was diagnosed with M.E, constant lack of energy left me unable and discouraged from craft. However you blog is so inspiring I’m attempting to rejoin the wagon so to speak. Thank you and keep on posting. Abie x

That belongs in a dictionary to illustrate the phrase "eye candy"! It looks so appropriate in the jar.

Oh, you are soo lucky to have found them! I have a wee tip for you: if you are interested in a label stamp set that includes 'bits and bobs', visit Claire Brennan's Waltzingmouse stamps. She's in Ireland and has the most exquisite stamp designs, one of which would match your ribbons perfectly. Wait til you see her lace stamps, too :)

Those little bits and bobs are too sweet! I just purchased a sewing box from an estate sale, and the woman that owned it took care to save everything in a neat and orderly manner. I really admire people from the "old school", who let nothing go to waste. That's what we should be doing now, too, isn't it?

My Grandmother used to send us a box of ribbons all rolled op like that every year from gifts that she got. We had a lot of fun with it!

So pretty! I'd love to feature your site in my current blog entry about vintage ribbons. In particular the idea of ribbons in a glass jar as a decoration - simple but brilliant!
