Hi all! I am back from a fabulous long weekend in New York. The weather was perfect, we had a wonderful time seeing family and friends, and I even managed to accomplish most of what I set out to do! I have much to share with you, but first things first...
I must give a big thank you to each and every one of you that took the time to leave such sweet wishes on my blog anniversary! I am so touched by all your comments and emails. I feel so lucky to have such wonderful readers!
Now, for the drawing...I decided to write a number that corresponded to each comment on a little piece of folded paper. I put them all in a bowl, mixed them up, and had my older daughter pick one. And the winner is.... Number 45, Elyse from
Tinkered Treasures.
Congratulations, Elyse! Please make sure to email me your address so that I can get your package of little pretty things on it's way to you.
O.K., so back to New York. My first stop was the newly re-opened Shabby Chic shop. I was so excited to see the Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture banner displayed above the storefront, that I could barely wait for my husband to park before I jumped out of the car.
Once inside, I was both thrilled and relieved to find that Shabby was indeed back.
The new shop looks much the same as it's predecessor.
There has been a bit of tweaking here and there...maybe a little less white and a bit more wood, but certainly the same aesthetic. There were plenty of upholstered pieces - cushy sofas and chairs piled high with pillows.
New rustic wood dining tables and French cane-back chairs.
There were lots of linens - perhaps a few less than before - but still lots to choose from.
I was, of course, immediately drawn to the two floral prints...lovely pink blossoms on a creamy background.
There were huge whimsical lampshades made out of petticoat-like skirts...
And I totally fell in love with this beautiful inspiration board...
There were pretty PJ's and robes...
And the requisite prom dress or two...
This one was stunning, but at $1200, not really justifiable. :-)
I did get an autographed copy of Rachel's new book, Shabby Chic Interiors - a must have for any Shabby lover. It's a gorgeous book filled with page after page of pastel loveliness. And the the cover of the shop's new brochure is totally frame-worthy. Seriously, I will be framing it! :-)
So, yes, I am happy to report that Shabby Chic is alive and well. Do stop by...
I'll be back soon to share more of my trip to New York. And next week, Target Tuesday will be back...I found some good stuff yesterday!
Happy Tuesday!
Jessica

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful weekend in New York, Jessica. I live 20 miles north of Manhattan and I don't get into the city nearly as often as I'd like to. The next time I go I will certainly be paying a visit to Shabby Chic!! Thanks for all of the wonderful pictures. :)

*sigh* I'm so glad you take internal shop photos. I wish Rachel would open a branch in the UK. We have Laura Ashley, we have Cath Kidston, but we need Rachel Ashwell too! ;o)
hope you had a good time.
