I hope you're sitting down right now. I really do. Because, you see, I went to the Tinsel Trading Company while in NY this past weekend and I took lots and lots of pictures. I don't want to be overly dramatic here, but I know I feel faint at the sight of something like this...
Yes, you are seeing correctly. That is an entire wall (a wall!) of millinery flowers.
I don't know about you, but I don't usually get to see a wall of millinery flowers in the course of my everyday life. But, oh, how I wish I did!
Many of these are reproduction, but a good number of them are true vintage. And there is nothing like the vintage ones.
My favorites...the dainty Forget-me-nots.
There are lots of vintage stamens, too.
How incredible are these! And the colors!
Tinsel Trading is a beautiful shop filled with every kids of trim you can imagine. Here's the wall of ribbon...
You can find every color, fabric, width, and design possible.
Again, many of the ribbons are new, but there are lots of pretty vintage ones as well.
This cool antique wine case holds the most gorgeous vintage ribbon rolls...
Look at the wonderful old labels.
Tinsel Trading also has a great selection of Wendy Addison's glittery designs.
These are some of her fun, printed ribbons...
The shop's specialty is vintage metallic thread and trims.
I have been shopping at Tinsel Trading for many years now and it is truly one of my favorite places. The owner, Marcia Ceppos, has created a wonderland of vintage prettiness. If you have not yet had the opportunity to see it for yourself, I think it's time for a little field trip!

Goodness. Good thing I am sitting down! So pretty. We are lucky, we have a pretty good haberdashery shop here in the town where I live, but is is nothing - NOTHING - like that. I'd be like a child in a sweetie shop in there.
Just gorgeous
:O)

Sigh.... easily one of the most precious sites I could hope to imagine. On my nest trip to NY, I will be visiting this place without a doubt!
I am curious: has anyone here visited the MAD in NY? They had (maybe still have?) a collection of paperworks. Oh, I saw an ad and still! I can't hardly stop quivering.
It looks like wonder to the eyes... :)

Many years ago, Martha Stewart featured Tinsel Trading on her old show. It made my mouth water back then. Since that time, I have made the pilgrimage there quite a few times from California. A person could lose sense and entertain the idea of a second mortgage, lol. I am fortunate enough to be close to Paris to the Moon and Suzy Cakes though.

I had to run for a second cup of coffee to look at this again and again! I would have fainted dead away at the sight - I've been trying to find these things for years and years, as they're just not available any more in the fabric stores like they used to be. Thanks for sharing!!!

What a fun stop in the Big Apple! Now, I hope you purchased some of those fleurs and are going to do something lovely with them!

Just discovered your delicious BLOG... Tinsel Trading is one of my favorite places... I've been going for over 20 years and remember the days when you had to dig through the dusty old boxes piled on the floor... Once I even found iridescent beetle carcasses that people used to use the wings for sequins... I was tempted but didn't buy them... Still kicking my self that I didn't!!!
