So, there I was in the toy store yesterday afternoon with 'Mini-mini-me". We had just finished up with her annual check-up at the pediatrician, which is NOT one of her favorite activities. And although she managed to get away with no shots this year, I still felt a special treat was in order. Luckily, there was a very nice toy store conveniently located in the same building as the doctor's office. So we were wandering the aisles in search of the perfect toy, when I spied these...
Beautiful vintage-style bride and groom paper dolls! I could barely contain my excitement. When I was a little girl, I LOVED paper dolls - most especially bride and groom paper dolls! Surely, Mini-mini would share my enthusiasm and choose them, right?
Nope.
Mini-mini would have no part of it. She barely gave them a momentary glance before she ran off to check-out the Polly Pockets and Barbies. "But, these are BRIDE PAPER DOLLS!", I called after her. "With pretty VINTAGE DRESSES! In PASTEL COLORS! Do you have any idea how cool these are???"
Mini-mini just looked at me like I was totally and completely insane and continued on with her search for something "good". I realized at that point that my efforts were futile and I wasn't going to be able to persuade her to get them.
So what was I, a bride-paper-doll-loving-grown woman, to do?
You betcha! I marched right up to the counter and bought them for myself! Now, if only I could get one of my girlfriends to come over and play with me...
:-)

*This set of paper dolls is a re-issue of a Little Golden Book title that was originally published in 1952. You can find it here.

I remember having a set of paperdolls when I was a kid in the 90s. I also had a set that you could stick on a mirror or windows and dress up. I used to really love them. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic now.

I was a paper doll fiend when I was a child in the 50's and 60's. I had Brenda Starr, Pat Boone, bride, you name it I had it, and boy wouldn't I love to have those today! My girls were never "into" paper dolls like their mom, maybe because there are too many choices for toys today. I remember stressing to no end that their necks would get a bend in them from overuse! I was OCD even then. I'd love to find those paper dolls!

Paperdolls were my favorite pastime as a young girl. I had a nice set of Lennon Sister paperdolls when I was about six, which I loved. My very favorite paperdolls, though, were cut from catalogs. I even cut out furniture and designed their houses for them; used roller skates for their cars. No relative could give me a better present than a big, thick catalog they no longer needed; I would be in heaven!

Ooo, can I come and play?! These are just lovely - I used to have paper dolls when I was a child. I wish I still had them, but guess I probably wore them out. Have fun playing!
