I know, I know. I've been a very bad blogger lately. I always find the end of the school year rather hectic, but this year it has just been absolutely crazy! With all the parties, graduations, and performances, I have found little time for anything else. But, school is now officially over and summer can truly begin! And what better way to start off than with a cool, refreshing beverage!
I find that pretty summer drinks are made even prettier when accompanied by these vintage paper drinking straws.
I just love them and always try to scoop them up whenever I come across them (in unopened boxes!) at flea markets or antique shops. You just can't beat those old, faded pastel colors.
The striped ones are my favorites...and, while they have been reproduced as of late, there is nothing like the faded elegance of the originals.
So, here's to a wonderful summer ahead - filled with family and friends, pretty picnics, homemade ice cream, fresh flowers, dinners al fresco, days at the beach...and, of course, lots of blog posts!
Jessica

I'm trying to remember paper drinking straws, but can only think of the plastic ones. They are pretty. You have an uncanny knack of finding the diamond in the rough!

Those are beautiful. I never even knew that they were still out there.
I felt the same way this year at the end of school. I have luckily been able to start blogging semi-regularly again.
Can't wait to see all of the beauty you blog about this summer.
Have fun.

Your posts are always fun and well worth the wait. My all time favorite post was the candy cupboard. That was just so wonderful.

You were missed, and I understand your nostalgia with straws, for me it's any straws--- even the red & white ones.

I was looking for paper straws for my sons party and when I was explaining them to my older children they just looked confused and their eyes glazed over. oh well, I still love them and I know it's a nostalgia thing but isn't that what makes life sweeter, the memories? Thanks for sharing, Theresa

EEEEEEEEEEEE love these! Inspired by you, I couldn't find enough of the old school straws for our wedding.... Went with new (oh well!) - gray and red for our colors! Decent price at http://www.graygoose.com/collections/all/products/paper-straws - boxes of 144 for $6.50. Can't wait!

Beautiful Pictures! I too love these paper straws, brings back happy memories of my childhood! We had a 4th of July Picnic and used red & white & blue & white stripes. Everyone Loved loved them...I also had a baby shower "it's a girl" shower and found some pretty pink, yellow & sage green ones to use for our pink punch, lemonade & limeade. It was such a hit with all the girls!
Planning a New Years Party next with these vintage inspired straws!
